*"**Filling The Blank Page**"*

Mark your calendars for this informative meeting and learn what to do in
this scenario:

You arrive at a meeting and, as you are being introduced as the business
analyst (BA), the meeting leader relinquishes the lead to you for the
purpose of gathering or documenting the requirements.

What you need to do to eliminate the Blank Page Syndrome (BPS).

1. Understand the need or goal of a project, so that connections to a
solution, conflict guidance, and scope control are improved.
2. Understand the basic flow of how a process or system works, to have a
context and framework within which to better understand, direct, and
document a project.
3. Estimation of time is only accurate if you divide a project into
small chunks of effort and then add them together.

Combining these three points into a cohesive strategy and framework, the
Business Analyst can add much more value to a project as well as see their
career extend into the Enterprise Analysis arena.

The venue is still to be determined but you can Register here

*BABOK Guide Agile Extension Overview at February Meeting*
The Agile Extension to the BABOK Guide will be highlighted in this
month's BABOK overview before the main speaker. The guide addresses agile
development practices that have emerged since 2009. An interactive session
will illustrate one of the following topics:

- The importance of business analysis practices in an agile context.
- How business analysis is performed in agile lifecycles.
- Key principles that should guide business analysis practice in agile
environments.
- How agile practices modify business analysis tasks, and existing
techniques that are useful in an agile context.
- Information on new techniques and additional information on existing
techniques.

Send your request for which topic you would like to hear about to
profdev@NewJersey.theiiba.org.

The Agile Extension was developed as a collaborative effort between the Agile
Alliance and IIBA. IIBA and the Agile Alliance are seeking feedback from
the agile and business analysis communities on its content, and invite all

LEAD:  Linux Sys Admin - nj - 6 mon CTH - Solaris/SENDMAIL

Posted by: "john sampson" jcsspike@yahoo.com   jcsspike

Fri Jan 27, 2012 10:18 am (PST)

I currently have an excellent opportunity for a Linux Administrator/Engineer in the Red Bank, NJ area. It is a 6 month contract to hire position for a large messaging company. Salary DOE. Below is a brief summary for what I'm looking for. Please contact me if interested to discuss details. Thanks!

Linux Admin  with experience in Unix (Solaris), and exposure to seemingly disparate systems working together in an ecosystem.

Their proprietary fax platform runs on linux, but the position will have to understand the following process of how an email gets processed to become a fax.

Email comes in through a weighted MX record (DNS understanding) to a SOLARIS server over SENDMAIL.  It is held there in a queue, then sent to another Solaris server, for processing.  It then goes to the proprietary fax platform (they'll train on this) which runs on LINUX.  From there, it can go to a WINDOWS server for further processing (conversion of file to tiff or pdf).  Then it goes back to a Linux server to be delivered as a fax.

They want someone who will understand this entire process, and will have touched the stuff above in caps…  He wants someone to look at it from a holistic perspective and take ownership of the process.  That said, he's going to want someone with a diverse set of skills, and you're not really looking for a linux admin… more of a Linux/Unix Admin with Engineering experience.
