Position Responsibilities – Summary
The Global Execution Services team is seeking a Lead Software Engineer.
This lead role will combine quantitative and software engineering skills to
drive development and deliverables that support and forward the GES business
goals.

Key Responsibilities:

· Partner with Business Analysts to understand and implement
business requirements and objectives

· Work closely with the Global Execution Services business and
research teams to understand business needs and to create effective
technical solutions

· Lead the technical design, implementation and deployment of robust
services that support trading, investment and Global Execution Services
teams

· Perform detailed analysis of analytical/quantitative problems and
provide guidance to the technical development teams

· Partner with the Architecture team to ensure track work is aligned
with the firm's standards and the strategic direction of the enterprise

· Lead full-cycle software development including regression testing,
deployment, and support of new tools

· Stay abreast of the "state of the art" as it relates to the
investment practice, technical and analytics computing both within the firm
and in the industry

Required Skills and Competencies:

· A minimum of five years of experience in the investment industry,
ideally with an asset manager, a hedge fund, or an investment bank.

· Demonstrated understanding of equity and fixed income security
data structures and attributes (including those for related derivatives),
quantitative concepts, and related investment processes

· At least seven years of application designing and programming
experience using Matlab, Java, C/C++, or R. Comfortable in
numerical/statistical programming

· Working knowledge of SQL and relational database technology

· Excellent written and verbal communications skills

· Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical
production environment

· Strong delivery focus and ability to overcome obstacles

· Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, physics,
statistics or other quantitative field

· Willingness or demonstrated commitment to a CFA / FRM charter

· Data architecture experience is a plus

Keys to this Position:

1. Technical: This is a hybrid role (60% coding/40% analysis). This role
is 60% hands on coding with Java and some C. The role also requires a
Quantitative background along with Advanced Math. . Exposure to statistical
packages such as R (preferred), Matlab or SAS is required. An Advanced Math
degree is highly regarded.

2. Domain: The candidate will require some understanding of Equity or
Fixed Income trading. This individual will work closely with the
quantitative analysts on the trading floor to help automate models and build
high performance systems to support the calculations and delivery. Strong
communication skills and strong analytical skills to interpret quantitative
models into technical solutions are key.

3. Leadership: This individual will lead a team of 6 (FTE's and
consultants).

Programming language design, compiler implementation, network protocols,

Runtime engineers are responsible for developing the programming language,
compiler, and deployment server for their technology. They collaborate
closely with the user interface team in order to provide end-users with the
most powerful authoring environment available on any CEP platform.

Reports to the CTO

Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibilities will be to define, design, and develop
functionality within the (CEP) engine, primarily in Java, for commercial
product releases. This position requires hands-on development expertise,
developing innovative solutions for scalable, high performance distributed
systems. Successful candidates must be self-reliant, resourceful, and enjoy
working with other smart motivated people.

Required Skills and Competencies:

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and
ability to work well in a team.

· Solid background in software engineering, including code reviews,
unit testing, and iterative development in large object-oriented codebases.

· BS in Computer Science or related field and four years experience
in server based development.

· Experience developing high-performance system software, streaming
data or CEP applications

· Expertise in Java/.Net and related technologies.

· Commercial Software experience.

The ideal candidate will have substantial skill in at least one of the
following areas:

· Programming Language and Compiler Development

o Knowledge of several programming languages and opinions about their
design and implementation, with emphasis on compiler technology.

o Experience building code models for use in integrated development
environments, supporting broken-syntax recovery, semantic analysis, and
refactoring.

· Server and Cluster Development

o Experience in network/server programming with focus on throughput
performance tuning, connection scalability, reliability, and latency.

o Experience implementing fault tolerance and clustering
functionality in server deployments.

· Database Management System Implementation

o Experienced database user and designer, including schema design and
performance optimization.

o Experience designing and developing database management systems
core functionality such as query planners, query executors, access methods,
and reliability/rollback functionality.

The following skills are also desirable:

· Experience with real-time system development

· Experience working with Web and application servers like Apache,
Spring, BEA, JBoss, IBM WebSphere, or other distributed applications

Summary:
My client utilizes a centralized database team to build, certify and
maintain the database infrastructure components for the Oracle, Sybase and
SQL Server RDBMS environments. The team ensures architectural blue prints
become sustainable test/stage and production environments and certify RDBMS
related functions: Database Backup & Recovery, High Availability, Disaster
Recovery, Replication, Security, Monitoring and general administration
tasks. The team builds SOP for transition to the Production Support teams
and acts, as needed, as escalation and as subject matter experts for
production database infrastructure incidents.

The candidate must possess both technical depth and breadth with experience
in a multi-disciplinary environment. He/she should have a "can do" "hands
on" orientation and be able to function both independently and as a member
of a team.
Required Skills and Competencies:

· Minimum 7+ years experience as Oracle Database Administrator
building and supporting enterprise critical databases on UNIX/Solaris – 11g
experience required.

· Experience installing, configuring and supporting Oracle RAC
environments.
· Experience installing, configuring and supporting Oracle HA and
DR.
· Experience managing Oracle backup and recovery with RMAN.
