PRESIDENT'S
COMMENTS
================
The
officers of the Chapter have worked hard to provide IT-related topics
that are of current importance and, hopefully, of interest to the majority of
our members.  For instance, last October we arranged a presentation
on Windows 8 a few weeks before its general release to the public. This
month is another example of our efforts. IBM's PureSystems product has had
a significant impact on the development of large enterprise systems. Its
integrated hardware and software installation approach is not exactly novel (it
was introduced with the IBM AS/400), but it has been honed to near perfection
in its current version. Whether or not you are an IBMer you should learn about
this product.

I
want to thank IBM for sending us two of their top sales people to provide us
with this month's presentation.

We
are taking a new approach this year regarding future meeting topics. The
officers have decided to propose (target) topics for the rest of the year(see
Future Meetings below) and are encouraging our members to suggest alternatives
if they wish. All suggestions will be given consideration and changes could be
made to that shown.

Next
month we are planning to hold our meeting at Aliperti's in Clark, NJ. It
is located just off the GSP at Exit 135. It is hoped that this location will
reduce the travel time to the meeting for many of our members and friends,
especially those living or working in Central NJ. I am hoping you will plan to
attend the meeting and provide us with feedback on the facility, format, travel
requirement, etc.

The Chapter gained
several new members since the beginning of the year: Richard Davis and Ric Stieglitz. Welcome to the Chapter. We look forward to meeting
you soon.

Best regards,

Brian Mecca
