Position Responsibilities - Summary
This exciting position provides both team and architectural leadership to
help define, implement, and oversee the infrastructure used by a popular
Linux/SaaS-oriented product platform. As a lead architect, you will be
responsible for designing, building, and optimizing a world-class private
cloud infrastructure that supports the processing of billions of dollars of
financial transactions per year. For the in-house-designed product line,
amongst a technical organization, you will collaborate with Engineering from
Development to Production, building with consistency, performance, and
security standards in mind. Self-Service portals, configuration management,
automation, etc. are all on the radar as you leverage the nimbleness and
ability to stay on the cutting edge of technology as a distinguishing
feature in the industry.
Will Lead/Manage a 4-6 person technical team – (Dev/Ops like team)
Position open due to a promotion - You will provide the leadership and
vision for a technically knowledgeable team.
Technology Environment includes VMWare vCloud stack block-level (FC) SAN
storage architecture, including vendors such as EMC (VNX, VMAX) and 3PAR
self-service cloud infrastructures such as AWS or Openstack – Also
Tomcat/JBoss/WebLogic/Java.
Experience in design, performance tuning, and complex troubleshooting of
highly available, secure systems using best-of-breed technologies (Puppet,
VMWare Automation, etc.)
Required Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of related experience, including
skills such as:
· Providing team leadership for a sophisticated, knowledgeable
architecture team within a technically-driven organization
· Strong experience in design, performance tuning, and complex
troubleshooting of highly available, secure systems using best-of-breed
technologies (think Puppet, VMWare Automation, etc.)
· Documenting new and existing infrastructure deployments, including
high- and mid-level architecture diagrams
· Guiding the implementation of systems infrastructure from the
ground up with minimal supervision.
· Experience in project management and estimation
· Proactively researching new and/or updated technologies as they
become available
· Reviewing performance metrics and recommending tuning strategies
to achieve higher performance and availability
· Proven ability to architect for greater scalability and
optimization, taking into account both operational and cost efficiency
· Serving as domain subject matter expert and advanced escalation
point in a robust, Linux-oriented (RedHat/CentOS) SaaS infrastructure
· Ability to evaluate vendors from a functional and technical
perspective to help business and IT leaders make informed decisions
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including
effective written and oral presentation skills
· Knowledge of Linux and advanced virtualization solutions,
including the VMWare vCloud stack.
· Experience with block-level (FC) SAN storage architecture,
including vendors such as EMC (VNX, VMAX) and 3PAR
· Experience with the benefits of self-service cloud infrastructures
such as AWS or Openstack
Pluses:
· Domain experience with Payments/Financials
· AWS or Cloud experience
