My name is Bob Fried.

I am currently working with a post development-stage company that is experiencing significant and rapid revenue growth. The Finance & Accounting function has not been able to keep up with this growth.

In this connection, I am looking for a person who is available immediately to come in at the Controller level on a contract / hourly basis (reporting to the VP of Finance), but who has the skills and experience beyond the Controllership level. This assignment could lead to a permanent position.

I have attached the position description for your information. The Company is limited to paying $50 per hour for this individual.

The Company – Central New Jersey-based, rapidly growing, venture capital-backed, developer and manufacturer of fiber optic modules and optical networking systems.

Job Title – Controller

Reports to – Vice President of Finance

Job Summary

The Controller will:

• Be responsible for most aspects of finance and accounting department, including supervision and original work.

• Assist in the development of policies, procedures and processes, implement best practices, and motivate directly supervised staff.

• Inspire collaboration and teamwork among the management team.

• Be a hand-on manager who leads by example.

• Start as "contract" hire, with potential to transition to full-time status, including attractive salary and fringe benefit package.

Duties & Responsibilities

Manage the daily operations of the accounting group, including general ledger, manufacturing cost accounting, transaction processing (accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, payroll), budgeting, internal management reporting, and financial statement preparation.

Support VP of Finance in the following areas:

• Management of key external relationships such as banks, auditors, investors, analysts, vendors and other strategic partners.

• Development of internal management reporting and decision-support information and analysis that is timely, accurate and relevant.

• Development of financial and business planning processes, including the annual plan and budgeting process, re-forecasting during the year, three-year financial plan, strategic planning, and financial data for business plan.

• Maintain and improve financial systems and controls that support the accuracy and integrity of all financial transactions and financial reporting.

• Conduct financial and business due diligence of all proposals, contracts, third party providers, and strategic partners. Effectively collaborate with other management team members, as necessary.

• Manage the organization's tax planning and compliance activities in concert with outside accounting firm.

Qualifications

Experience

Established controllership track record with 8 to 10 years of progressive responsibilities with mid-sized company in manufacturing environment.

Solid cost accounting and management accounting experience.

Strong operational, process and customer orientation.

Degree in Accounting or Finance, with CPA or MBA a plus

Personal and Professional

Hands-on capability and management style.

Team-oriented, bright, forward-thinking, and creative.

High energy level with strong interpersonal skills.

Highest level of personal and professional integrity.

Compensation

• $50 per hour.
