Breakfast Club Meeting - Saturday December 11, 2010 - Rod Colon

Posted by: "Brian Mecca" Brian.Mecca@yahoo.com   bd_mecca

Fri Dec 3, 2010 10:24 am (PST)

Mark your calendars now -Rod Colon will be our guest speaker at the next meeting
of The Breakfast Club NJ on Saturday December 11, 2010.

This Month’s Topic: Becoming a Master Networker.

We Are Networking Professionals

My friends often tease me, saying:  “Rod, you’re always networking.  Why not
give it a rest?” Â  They might as well say, “Rod, you’re always breathing.  Why
not give it a rest?”  My answer is the same for both questions:  “I can’t.”

For me, networking is all about interacting with people no matter who they are,
where they are, or what they’re doing.  It could be members of my family,
neighbors, members of the PTA, or the UPS driver.  I don’t care. Â  I gravitate
to people because they fascinate me.  I love them.  They charge me up and give
meaning to my life.  Everyone has a story to tell, and I love hearing those
stories.

Of course that’s the practical, everyday, “fun” side of networking.  I need to
make sure you understand the business imperative of networking, too.

That’s why I now tell you this:  If you decide not to pursue my job search
methodology geared for 21st century jobs, be absolutely sure you read the
following passage before making the decision final:

Relationships are the new “capital” of the 21st century and as such, will have a
much greater impact on growth in almost every business sector of the economy.
If you opt out of networking, you are taking yourself out of the career
landscape for a long time to come. This is one of the reasons why the ETP
Network exists:  It’s not JUST about the job search, it’s about becoming masters
of networking with an eye toward securing a viable place in the
relationship-based global economy of the future.

It all begins with the machinery of networking.  And that machinery must never
stop.

About the speaker:Our speaker for the event is Rod Colon.
Rod Colon̢۪s Career Highlights: Speaker, Author, Career Coach, Radio Show Co-Host
of "YOUR CAREER IS CALLING" - CEO and Founder of Empowering Today's
Professionals.

Rod Colón is CEO and founder of Empowering Today's Professionals. Rod has
appeared on Bronxnet “Open” cable TV show. He is also weekly co-host of

University̢۪s 107.7 The Bronc. As an adjunct professor, Rod spearheaded the first
college course on networking taught in the United States, as part of Georgian
Court University̢۪s business management program.

Mr. Colón is an in demand speaker. He blogs on face-to-face and online
networking. With his winning job search strategies, Rod has helped many people
land jobs in the last 12 months alone.  With 26 years as a human resource
management insider, Rod̢۪s clients have included JPMorgan Chase, Bankers Trust
and consultant to staffing companies.
