Job Description:

Responsible for managing cross-functional teams to deliver defined project
outputs on time, within budget, and with quality results. The assignment
will consist of large enterprise-wide, cross-divisional (business and IT at
several organization levels) projects with a high degree of complexity and
high risk. Project Managers plan, organize, monitor, and oversee one or more
projects to meet defined requirements or business specifications. They work
closely with others in project management to guide efforts toward achieving
intended business results.
Project Managers have primary responsibility for defining, planning,
tracking and managing the enterprise project, for identifying key resources
and providing the direction they require in order to meet project
objectives. They also ensure appropriate management, customer and supplier
involvement throughout the life of the project. Selecting the right person
for the role of project manager is crucial to project success.

Required Skills:

. Bachelor's Degree required

. Minimum 7 years professional business experience, prefer Health
Insurance Industry

. Minimum of 4 years of prior PM experience preferably in healthcare

. Experience working with vendors and several cross-divisional
stakeholders on large enterprise-wide initiatives

Additional licensing, certifications, registrations:

. PMI's PMP certification required

Knowledge:

. Knowledge of health insurance industry is required.

. A technical background sufficient to understand the technologies
and technical issues

. involved with the project and industry, to be able to anticipate
and identify technical obstacles, and to make accurate technology decisions.

. Extensive knowledge of project management methodology.

Skills and Abilities:

. Competency in project management processes, including planning tasks

My direct client, a media company has an immediate need for a Technical Project Manager.




Duration: 6+ months Contract

Location: New York, NY

Salary: $40/per hour, W-2

Essential Functions:

The Digital Products and Services (DPS) organization provides a wide variety of solutions and capabilities in support of my client's digital brands. DPS offers expertise in the areas of project management, user experience and design, technical development, implementation and operations to our business partners as they explore ways to establish and enhance their online presence.



DPS is seeking a capable Project Manager responsible for leading various strategic initiatives including the advancement of our online Video and Advertising Product. The successful candidate will operate in a matrix environment, developing multi-talented, cross-functional teams and guide them through processes that most effectively deliver business solutions. They will be directly accountable for successful execution of each project in support of the overall goals of the Video Program.



The Project Manager will play a critical role as an expert on our Video products, publishing tools and services. They will also understand how our Video tools and services interface and enhance my client's broader publishing tool set used across our digital properties.



This role will be based in New York and will report to the Director, Video Program.





Responsibilities include:

Project Management


Running complex projects. Right from design and development, till the production and that execution is carried out on schedule utilizing the Agile Methodology.

Working with all the stakeholders to define, prioritize and execute the projects.

Providing leadership in generating cross product and project task plans, resource planning, budgeting, identifying interdependencies and risk management plans

Collaborating with Product Managers on release definition and scope.

Facilitating and making trade off decisions between quality, costs, resources, scope and time.

Overlooking the process aspects of individual projects and providing release oversight.

Managing all changes and issues with the stakeholders.

Identifying and solving project issues effectively. Creating contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies.

Ensuring the effective transition of work between the various teams and managing conflicts between the different groups

Complying and enforcing standard company policies and procedures.

Maintaining project and technical documentation.

Reviewing the status reports of team members across projects and addressing issues as appropriate.

Lending expertise and support to the internal teams and task forces.

When necessary, working off hours and weekends to support business needs.


Communication and Interaction


Conducting regular reviews with management on project progress and maintaining the communication infrastructure to ensure transparency and clarity about the state of your projects

Effectively communicating complex and/or difficult information to both technical and non-technical audiences including Sr. Executives and clients.

Fostering open communication between project team members.

Facilitating group through complex issues to decisions. Ensuring group participation. Driving workshops/meetings to conclusion and/or actionable outcomes.


Process


Driving predictability in the project outcomes through process.

Actively contributing to the evolution of processes and standards. Leading improvement efforts.

Promoting more effective use of existing tools and processes.

Championing the use of Agile development methodologies and mentoring team members in this area.


Leadership


Simplifying strategy into specific actions, making decisions and communicating priorities.

Articulating a compelling course of action and selling the benefit.

Communicating in a fashion that convinces and influences key decision-makers / stakeholders

Building a connection with the team through personal involvement and trust … inspiring people to want to perform at a higher level.

Mentoring team through formal channels.






Required Experience:


Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering (or equivalent relevant work experience). MS in Computer Science highly desirable.

6 + years of progressive experience in project management.

3+ years of relevant industry experience with Online or Mobile Video, Advertising, and/or Rich Media (e.g., digital/online/TV/video/rich media, advertising agency or online publisher/ad network/technology vendor background) and strong aptitude/facility with a wide variety of technical processes, protocols, and on-demand applications are essential.

Experience with Flash or Flex and ActionScript3 and knowledge of OSMF.






Qualifications:


Proven track record of managing complex projects in a cross-functional environment.

PMP or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.

Experience with Agile Software Development (preferable SCRUM).

Self-managed proactive work style

Experience managing people and resources

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Proven organization, presentation and customer service skills.

Must have proficiency in project management tools i.e., Microsoft Project

Managing high profile projects within a program environment particularly hands-on experience with online projects

Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams (creative, technology, producers, etc.)

Familiarity with Java, C++, or LAMP stacks.

Familiarity to Rally Software
