[itroundtable] AV/Network Design Engineer and Project Manager, at William Patterson Univ

 

The AV/ Network Design Engineer and Project Manager will be responsible for the design, operation, installation, testing, evaluating and monitoring of systems encompassing audiovisual, networking, computing and other technologies. This position reports to the Director of Instruction and Research Technology.
The selected candidate will serve as the technology design engineer and consultant for multimedia learning spaces, informal learning spaces and other facilities that require a technical infrastructure for audio visual, networking, computing and other technologies.  S/he will design complex electronic digital and analog systems used in educational environments as well as conceptualize, design, implement and troubleshoot complex electronic AV and technology systems to meet specified needs.  Working collaboratively in a team environment, the selected candidate will supervise the work of AV Multimedia Technicians and coordinate and schedule the work of internal personnel and external contractors on assigned projects.  S/he will demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skill in working with diverse internal and external constituents.
The selected candidate is required to possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following disciplines, Engineering, Information Technology, Communication, or related field.  Master's degree and CTS certification is preferred.  Additional requirements include a minimum of three years' experience in the design of complex electronic, digital and analog systems, one year of which must include project management responsibilities; experience in designing AutoCAD drawings; demonstrated knowledge of analog and digital technology, electronics and AV and video systems.  Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer operations, networking, and emerging trends and development in technology as well as media control systems technology is required.  Knowledge of Extron and Crestron is preferred.  S/he will also possess a thorough understanding of data, mechanical and electrical schematics as well as architectural drawings.
