[itroundtable] CleanTech/GreenTech event this Wed. evening 2/24 at 6:30 p.m. at Slate in NYC

Just passing along an item of interest I just received for clean tech/green tech:

CleanTech/GreenTech event this Wed. evening 2/24 at 6:30 p.m. at Slate in NYC.

Colleagues & Friends - After an introduction by bankers I've been working with, I was invited to speak in New York City at a CleanTech/GreenTech event this Wednesday evening 2/24 at 6:30 p.m. at a venue called Slate at 54 West 21st Street (between 5th & 6th Ave.). It's an informal "business casual" event for people working (or interested) in greentech, including bankers, investors, entrepreneurs, lawyers, and consultants. If you're interested --
or just want to reconnect face-to-face -- please stop by for a drink and conversation! The event runs until 9:30 p.m., so any time 6:30-9:00 should work.

The event is sponsored by TiE, the world's largest non-profit organization of entrepreneurs and related professionals, which has various special interest groups (SIGs). The 13 invited speakers are deemed by TiE to be working on things of interest to this CleanTech SIG; They include GE Energy Finance, venture capital and private equity investors, consultants, entrepreneurs, one professor who directs CUNY's Energy Institute, and yours truly. Each is expected to speak -- very briefly! -- on what they're doing, after which schmoozing and drinks ensue. Given limited time, I'm going to
speak only about one client situation -- a technology breakthrough in
cleaning up soil, groundwater and sediment contamination, for which I'm now trolling for intellectual property lawyers, co-investors and particularly business alliance partners, i.e. engineering, construction, environmental and remediation service providers that can use my client's technology on their cleanup projects. More information on the event and other speakers is available at
http://tristate.tie.org/TGS/EM/viewevent/viewEventPT?id_event=4205 .
Registration at the door is $20 but less expensive online. My bio from the TiE site (below) provides more information on the full range of things I'm working on.

If you're in the neighborhood and in the mood, I look forward to seeing you again. Best, Dave

After stints with Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, Nomura Securities/NRI and Western Electric (AT&T), David K. (Dave) MacGillis spent 25 years on the founding and early-stage teams of four infotech companies that successfully pioneered new technologies; All four were taken public or sold for 3x-4x sales. In early 2008 friends drew him into energy and environmental technology, where he saw great opportunities to work with innovators and investors to bring to market new knowledge and technology breakthroughs with a 10X-1000X upside. MacGillis Energy and Environmental Ventures now provides consulting, venture
development, business development, and co-investment services, and also assists with capital raising. Current client work focuses primarily on green breakthroughs emerging from multidisciplinary R&D, including the remediation of soil, groundwater and sediment contamination; cleanup of oil spills, drilling cuttings and fracking fluids; enhanced oil recovery (EOR); recovery of energy from unconventional resources (heavy oil, tar sands, coalbed methane, loose shale); water/wastewater treatment to remove prescription medications and estrogen; and confidential companies and technologies of interest to particular investors. Other client work focuses on developing oil and gas resources that have been overlooked, including one of the largest onshore oil finds east of the Mississippi and a major shale gas resource without water problems. Other areas being explored include aerial remote sensing coupled to asset management software to identify and manage surface and underground assets; "smart" bus services; spinoffs from an updated geologic model based on new knowledge; an e-commerce platform for multi-level B2B marketing of highly technical products and services; and integrated upstream energy + value-added downstream projects in developing
countries.
