CleanTech/GreenTech event this Wed. evening 2/24 at 6:30 p.m. at Sla

Posted by: "Bradley Browne" bbrowne9@aol.com   bbrowne9

Wed Feb 24, 2010 8:41 am (PST)

Just passing along an item of interest I just received for clean tech/green tech:

CleanTech/GreenTech event this Wed. evening 2/24 at 6:30 p.m. at Slate in NYC.

Colleagues & Friends - After an introduction by bankers I've been working with, I was invited to speak in New York City at a CleanTech/GreenTech event this Wednesday evening 2/24 at 6:30 p.m. at a venue called Slate at 54 West 21st Street (between 5th & 6th Ave.). It's an informal "business casual" event for people working (or interested) in greentech, including bankers, investors, entrepreneurs, lawyers, and consultants. If you're interested --
or just want to reconnect face-to-face -- please stop by for a drink and conversation! The event runs until 9:30 p.m., so any time 6:30-9:00 should work.

The event is sponsored by TiE, the world's largest non-profit organization of entrepreneurs and related professionals, which has various special interest groups (SIGs). The 13 invited speakers are deemed by TiE to be working on things of interest to this CleanTech SIG; They include GE Energy Finance, venture capital and private equity investors, consultants, entrepreneurs, one professor who directs CUNY's Energy Institute, and yours truly. Each is expected to speak -- very briefly! -- on what they're doing, after which schmoozing and drinks ensue. Given limited time, I'm going to
speak only about one client situation -- a technology breakthrough in
cleaning up soil, groundwater and sediment contamination, for which I'm now trolling for intellectual property lawyers, co-investors and particularly business alliance partners, i.e. engineering, construction, environmental and remediation service providers that can use my client's technology on their cleanup projects. More information on the event and other speakers is available at
http://tristate.tie.org/TGS/EM/viewevent/viewEventPT?id_event=4205 .
Registration at the door is $20 but less expensive online. My bio from the TiE site (below) provides more information on the full range of things I'm working on.

If you're in the neighborhood and in the mood, I look forward to seeing you again. Best, Dave

After stints with Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, Nomura Securities/NRI and Western Electric (AT&T), David K. (Dave) MacGillis spent 25 years on the founding and early-stage teams of four infotech companies that successfully pioneered new technologies; All four were taken public or sold for 3x-4x sales. In early 2008 friends drew him into energy and environmental technology, where he saw great opportunities to work with innovators and investors to bring to market new knowledge and technology breakthroughs with a 10X-1000X upside. MacGillis Energy and Environmental Ventures now provides consulting, venture
development, business development, and co-investment services, and also assists with capital raising. Current client work focuses primarily on green breakthroughs emerging from multidisciplinary R&D, including the remediation of soil, groundwater and sediment contamination; cleanup of oil spills, drilling cuttings and fracking fluids; enhanced oil recovery (EOR); recovery of energy from unconventional resources (heavy oil, tar sands, coalbed methane, loose shale); water/wastewater treatment to remove prescription medications and estrogen; and confidential companies and technologies of interest to particular investors. Other client work focuses on developing oil and gas resources that have been overlooked, including one of the largest onshore oil finds east of the Mississippi and a major shale gas resource without water problems. Other areas being explored include aerial remote sensing coupled to asset management software to identify and manage surface and underground assets; "smart" bus services; spinoffs from an updated geologic model based on new knowledge; an e-commerce platform for multi-level B2B marketing of highly technical products and services; and integrated upstream energy + value-added downstream projects in developing
countries.

The 20 Habits Of Highly Effective Networkers – Part
1<http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/timsstrategy/~3/TyWK7TXGCYg/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email>

Posted: 24 Feb 2010 06:00 AM PST

Sometimes when I write on a big topic. Like networking. It makes sense to
split the idea up into two posts. Easier on you.

This topic has become so critical for everyone, hasn't it?. Whether you are
looking for work, new consulting opportunities or ways to grow your small
business, networking is absolutely essential.

*But how do you do it? What are the best networkers doing and how are they
doing it?*

I gave a presentation on this subject yesterday at a networking forum in Los
Angeles sponsored by McDermott & Bull <http://www.mbexec.net>, a progressive
recruiting firm here in Southern California. Their Executive
Network<http://www.mbexec.net>supports hundreds of people through
their job search transition process.

Here I've separated the 20 habits into two sections: *Things To Be (Part 1)*and
*Things To Do (Part 2)
*

So, for today, here are the 10 Things To Be:

1. *Be Memorable* – Grabbing the positive attention of people at
networking events is critical. And the way you do that is to have a great
story. A great elevator pitch that includes something compelling. It will
be different for all of us. Some are personal stories of triumph. Others
are tales of work successes. But you need a story to engage people.
Period.
2. *Be Patient* – You will meet all sorts while networking. Many of whom
will not do it right. They will make mistakes. The "new", the "impatient"
and the "needy" will find their way to you. And your reaction to them is
critical. Instead of looking for an out, look for the opportunity to
educate. You will be thanked and remembered for that . . .
3. *Be Consistent* – Don't crawl under a rock and don't expect that
showing up at a quarterly event will properly freshen your network
relationships. You need to pick a few key organizations or events and go
consistently. This way you become a part of the fabric. And you start to
build friendships that will now extend beyond your visits. Set a goal for
yourself that gets you in one general and one industry or function specific
group event per month.
4. *Be Relevant* – You are relevant if people attending events see you as
having value. To them. Right now. How do you do that? First, keep up
friendships and each time you re-connect, ask great questions to make sure
you know what is happening in their lives. This allows you to offer value
that is specific to them. If it is a job search driven group, offer to
serve as a volunteer and create subject matter expertise. Be the resume
expert for your group. Or the interview prep person. If you help someone
achieve their objectives in life, you are relevant.
5. *Be Social Media Savvy* – To be effective in today's world, you really
need to be savvy in social media. It is the easiest and most effective way
to keep in touch with your network. In a personal way. Twitter, LinkedIn,
Facebook, Foursquare to name a few. If haven't already done so, get started
today. Really.
6. *Be Honest* – In order to really do this right, you have to be honest
with people. If you tell everyone what they want to hear and promise the
world, the results will be poor. If someone approaches you the wrong way, I
encourage you to tell them. "Hey, I appreciate what you are trying to do,
but . . .". You can make great friends with people by helping them see the
benefits of selfless networking. Those who come to an event as only a
"taker" will find frustration in this new economy. Unless someone like you
gently straightens them out.
7. *Be Influential* – How do you build influence? Well you can read my
post <http://timsstrategy.com/10-ways-to-become-a-person-of-influence/>on
the subject. But, in short, it has to do with creating a sense in
your
network that you have something unique to offer. Something you've created.
A group, a presentation, a helpful spreadsheet (for example). You can also
do it by being selfless. Over time, your good acts will create a wave of
positive momentum. And people will come to events looking for you. That
makes networking easy. And fulfilling.
8. *Be Considerate* – If you bruise your network, it will be less
pliable. Less interested in supporting you when you need it. And I think
we all know that this new economy has been a teachable moment for us all.
Don't ask for more than you deserve. Don't disregard a networking request
if you can help it. And don't over-use a networking contact.
9. *Be Thankful* – Say thank you. And display your thanks in more ways
than one. Know the needs and wants of your network. So that you can give
targeted gratitude. Instead of something coming back to bite you, this
effort will come back to kiss you. Gently on the cheek.
10. *Be Present* – In order to do this really well, there will be
sacrifices. Less time at home with family. Less American Idol. Less Sunday
football. OK with that? Being present means that you are there. At the
events. And are there mentally as well. Focused uniquely on whoever is
standing in front of you. It means having the ability to move around and
"be present" with as many people as possible.

So there you have it. All things you can practice. Starting today. And I
think you will start to see results pretty quick.

Be these things and I will be proud to call you a networking friend.

What else do you think matters in networking?* What have I missed? *

*Like this post? *Be sure to come back for Part 2. Or better yet, sign up
for the RSS feed or e-mail updates (see sidebar, top right). That way you
won't miss a thing!*

Program Manager for Validated Systems

Posted by: "joesonline" joesonline@yahoo.com   joesonline

Wed Feb 24, 2010 3:03 pm (PST)

PROGRAM MANAGER FOR VALIDATED SYSTEMS

REQUIREMENT #6239

RECRUITER: CINDI PISNOY

JOB LOCATION: PRINCETON

FEBRUARY 24, 2010

Project Description: Program Management experience a must. The Program Manger will be responsible for working with the various groups and stakeholders to coordinate schedules, timing of periodic reviews, managing the budget for the program and ensuring that the proper resources are committed to each individual project. The program manager will also be responsible for week to week tracking of overall progress to milestones, identifying and making the necessary adjustments to integrated project plans and issue/risk resolution and escalation to the appropriate individual or group.
Experience working in a Regulated Environment and System Validation a must.

Periodic reviews of validated systems must be performed to ensure that they remain in a validated state of control as required by numerous pharmaceutical regulations and client standards. At a minimum, a periodic review of validated computerized systems must be performed every three years from the initial system implementation date and high risk systems must be reviewed more frequently.

Funding has been set aside to create a Periodic Review Program. This will be a multi-year, multi-phase program consisting of numerous smaller projects to be completed between 2010 and 2012. The program will be organized based on risk so that riskier systems or those systems that were originally validated three or more years ago are reviewed first.
