Job Title: Microfocus Support Manager
Location: Jersey City NJ
Duration: PERM / Full Time
Description:
Infrastructure Technologies comprises the management and provisioning of the Group's infrastructure technologies. This includes responsibility for provisioning, support and refresh, across end-user, distributed, network, core, and middleware technologies respectively.
Main Duties
Individual will be responsible for architecting a consolidated Micro Focus platform hosting business critical applications for multiple Barclays Capital business areas such as Wealth, Prime and Cross Products/Reference Data.
Barclays runs mission critical batch and online systems on Micro Focus Enterprise Server running on windows 2003 platform.
The candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the consolidated Micro Focus environment with focus on isolation, automation and performance tuning.
Develop the plan for ongoing support and management of the Micro Focus platform at Barclays Capital.
Manage the relationship between vendors and any vendor consultants working on the project.
Creation and implementation of a strategy for the Micro Focus platform space to improve resiliency and management, including monitoring, storage management (SAN & NAS), interact with IT staff or vendors in testing, operational support and troubleshooting of complex system hardware and software problems.
Implement disaster recovery processes and procedures.
Performance tuning of servers and related systems.
Act as a technical resource to the IT staff and systems users. Develop, communicate, and monitor the operational standards and procedures for the MS Windows based system.
Perform all routine administrative and operational tasks.
Person Requirements
Basic Qualifications
B.S. degree or equivalent in a Computer Science related field.
5 years + experience of distributed computing platform (Windows Operating System and Unix/Linux)
Preferred Qualifications
A background in Micro Focus, Mainframe Systems programming, development, CICS preferred
Good Powershell and/or Perl scripting desirable, development background with ASP.NET/C# preferred
Keen troubleshooting and problem solving ability (i.e. parsing event log, sysinternal tools, analyzing memory dumps etc)
Technical understanding of windows infrastructure services (e.g. AD, ADAM, GPO, CIFS, DFS, windows clustering etc) within the enterprise.
Understanding of SAN/NAS technologies.
Understanding of schedulers such as autosys.
Familiarity with middleware and tools such as MQ Series/JMS, Syncsort, ETL.
Active directory and good understanding of authentication and authorization system.
Experience engineering, managing and supporting large complex shared environment with proper isolation for individual business
Must be able to work effectively with client and other systems technical staff, consultants and vendors. Demonstrated leadership to grow and develop other people.
Self-driven, creative, and highly motivated with ability to think on their feet.
Excellent communication skills (including strong written and spoken English)
