It Appears as if someone else is following our lead

Following on the heels of our decision to leave Chappaqua for a time during
the summer months, it now appears as though someone else may be following
our lead. What can we say, save that they follow on the heels of greatness?

Could Be Time for Clintons to Trade Up

By PETER APPLEBOME
<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/nyregion/columns/peterapplebome/?inline=
nyt-per>

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y.

Serious and casual Clinton watchers may be focused on Chelsea Clinton's
wedding on July 31. But for their neighbors here, the more pressing question
is a familiar one for suburban empty nesters: What's up with the house?

Say what you will about the Clintons. After the initial skepticism about
carpetbaggers or opportunists, they've actually morphed into fairly typical
Westchester folks, stressed out over work, contemplating momentous life
passages, and, of course, trying to figure out what to do with the house in
this real estate market.

It remains to be seen whether published reports are true about the Clintons'
decamping for pricier Bedford, and a horsey 20-acre estate nine miles away
in Bedford Hills called Clover Hill Farm
<http://www.coldwellbankermoves.com/BrandedHome.aspx?IsBranded=1&AgentID=585
7&TemplateID=4> , listed at $10.9 million. No sale has closed, and in this
glutted market, full of attractive houses and desperate sellers, any
potential deal can fall through. The listing agent, Mady Wengrover, declined
to comment.

Still, there have been reports from many locales in Westchester and points
north for well over a year about the Clintons' kicking the tires of houses
in places like Bedford and Armonk, and as far away as Woodstock. So it's
pretty clear that 11 years after the initial frenzy about just where the
Clintons would land, Version 2.0 is under way.

This time around figures to be a bit more sedate. After all, if they move,
they're only leaving the Dutch Colonial at 15 Old House Lane in Chappaqua,
not the White House. There's no issue, like leaving office, to force a
decision.

Still, locally it's cause for reflection. One Chappaqua resident, the
lawyer, author and former Congressional candidate Lawrence Otis Graham
<http://lawrenceotisgraham.com/content/index.asp> , fearing Chappaqua was
about to be LeBron James'd, in an essay
<http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-07-11/the-clintons-new-
home/> on The Daily Beast Web site, has already called on the Clintons to
stay put.

In his view, the Clintons brought "celebrity, pride and gravitas" to what
was just another Westchester suburb full of people much too obsessed about
what college their children got into, and gave it enough name recognition
that people finally realized it wasn't the place where Teddy Kennedy drove
off that bridge. And Chappaqua offered the Clintons the perfect place for
Hillary Clinton
<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/c/hillary_rodham
_clinton/index.html?inline=nyt-per> to begin a successful Senate campaign
despite having no previous ties to New York State.

The Clintons, it turns out, are almost unanimously viewed as great
neighbors. Mr. Clinton has been far more conspicuous in town, but they march
in the Memorial Day Parade, get egg sandwiches at Lange's Little Store and
Deli, and, until recently, were regularly seen at Starbucks or local
restaurants, at the nearby movie theaters in Mount Kisco or Pleasantville,
walking the dog or using the track at Greeley High School.

Roni Jacobson, a lawyer who lives on their street, said the Clintons are
regulars at her Memorial Day barbecue and faithfully attended a neighbor's
Super Bowl
<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/subjects/s/super_bowl/i
ndex.html?inline=nyt-classifier> party until he moved away. "They've been
really great, caring neighbors," Mrs. Jacobson said. "I'd really be sad to
see them go."

STILL, they've hardly been around since Mrs. Clinton became secretary of
state. That colonial on a suburban cul-de-sac and the Chappaqua address -
read: suburbanites just like you! - no longer matter much politically.
Bedford, home of huge secluded estates and horse farms for the likes of
Martha Stewart
<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/s/martha_stewart
/index.html?inline=nyt-per> , Richard Gere
<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/g/richard_gere/i
ndex.html?inline=nyt-per> , Glenn Close
<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/c/glenn_close/in
dex.html?inline=nyt-per> and others, offers more space and privacy if
they're contemplating their own Kennebunkport, Hyannisport or even Crawford,
Tex. And, if it matters, the hamlet of Bedford Hills, which includes the
Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women, is viewed as a little less
upscale than neighboring Bedford Village.

Should the Clintons leave, they'll be missed, but Mr. Graham
notwithstanding, few people will begrudge them that fancy new house and next
life. This is Chappaqua. People move here for something, usually the
schools, and they leave when that no longer works. If the Clintons can
upsize while everyone else is downsizing, and sell the house with its
presidential imprimatur in this dead market, most people figure, more power
to them.

E-mail: peappl@nytimes.com

Perhaps we may be able to use their former home for a while as a meeting
place.

lawyer, author and former Congressional candidate Lawrence Otis Graham
<http://lawrenceotisgraham.com/content/index.asp> , fearing Chappaqua was
about to be LeBron James'd, in an essay
<http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-07-11/the-clintons-new-
home/> on The Daily Beast Web site, has already called on the Clintons to
stay put.

In his view, the Clintons brought "celebrity, pride and gravitas" to what
was just another Westchester suburb full of people much too obsessed about
what college their children got into, and gave it enough name recognition
that people finally realized it wasn't the place where Teddy Kennedy drove
off that bridge. And Chappaqua offered the Clintons the perfect place for
Hillary Clinton
<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/c/hillary_rodham
_clinton/index.html?inline=nyt-per> to begin a successful Senate campaign
despite having no previous ties to New York State.

The Clintons, it turns out, are almost unanimously viewed as great
neighbors. Mr. Clinton has been far more conspicuous in town, but they march
in the Memorial Day Parade, get egg sandwiches at Lange's Little Store and
Deli, and, until recently, were regularly seen at Starbucks or local
restaurants, at the nearby movie theaters in Mount Kisco or Pleasantville,
walking the dog or using the track at Greeley High School.

Roni Jacobson, a lawyer who lives on their street, said the Clintons are
regulars at her Memorial Day barbecue and faithfully attended a neighbor's
Super Bowl
<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/subjects/s/super_bowl/i
ndex.html?inline=nyt-classifier> party until he moved away. "They've been
really great, caring neighbors," Mrs. Jacobson said. "I'd really be sad to
see them go."

STILL, they've hardly been around since Mrs. Clinton became secretary of
state. That colonial on a suburban cul-de-sac and the Chappaqua address -
read: suburbanites just like you! - no longer matter much politically.
Bedford, home of huge secluded estates and horse farms for the likes of
Martha Stewart
<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/s/martha_stewart
/index.html?inline=nyt-per> , Richard Gere
<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/g/richard_gere/i
ndex.html?inline=nyt-per> , Glenn Close
<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/c/glenn_close/in
dex.html?inline=nyt-per> and others, offers more space and privacy if
they're contemplating their own Kennebunkport, Hyannisport or even Crawford,
Tex. And, if it matters, the hamlet of Bedford Hills, which includes the
Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women, is viewed as a little less
upscale than neighboring Bedford Village.

Should the Clintons leave, they'll be missed, but Mr. Graham
notwithstanding, few people will begrudge them that fancy new house and next
life. This is Chappaqua. People move here for something, usually the
schools, and they leave when that no longer works. If the Clintons can
upsize while everyone else is downsizing, and sell the house with its
presidential imprimatur in this dead market, most people figure, more power
to them.

Perhaps we may be able to use their former home for a while as a meeting
place.

Co-Founder, tutorspree
Who Were Looking For
New York based tech startup, tutorspree, is looking for motivated,
energetic, and passionate Masters of Education students, elementary and
high school teachers, and educators with classroom experience to offer
in-person and online tutoring for students in grades K-12.
Tutors set their own rate and determine weekly schedules.
How it Works
tutorspree is an online marketplace where tutors and students can meet for
in-person or live online tutoring. tutorspree enables tutors to teach how
they want, when they want, and for the price they want.
In person lessons are scheduled through our site, while online lessons take
place in a virtual classroom equipped with video chat, an interactive
whiteboard, and a wide array of tutoring resources. Tutors determine their
own hourly rates and schedules and create personalized profiles and lesson
plans that are marketed at potential students. tutorspree acts as a third
party that holds funds and pays them to teachers after a lesson, ensuring a
secure transaction.
tutorsprees goal is to create an environment where personalized online
tutor lessons resemble and even surpass the traditional face-to-face
tutoring session. Lessons are recorded so the student can go back and review
at a later time. Web tools allow parents to keep track of student progress.
Tutors can share lesson plans with each other and incorporate tutorsprees
subject specific teaching materials into lessons. Finally, students rate
tutors after a lesson to ensure quality control.
Why Youll Love It
tutorspree is not intended for just anyone that wants to tutor, its
designed specifically for qualified teachers and educators. Our mission is
to empower employed, under-employed, and unemployed teachers by offering
them a way to supplement their incomes under their own terms. We want build
a community of teachers to establish the best tutoring platform in the
world.
Please take a moment to fill out a quick survey here- www.tutorspree.com- so
that you can participate in our launch this coming school year. Please pass
this letter along to any other teachers who might be interested - or to any
students who would benefit from the service.

We look forward to hearing from you soon,
