System Officer – Mgr Business Analysts – Financial Services - Rt93/Boston,
MA Area – Up to $125K - DOE

Division of a large, successful, and growing financial services firm.

Summary:

As a Systems Officer you will be responsible for the overall direction and
success of the team. Assumes overall accountability for the effective
administration of the department. Manages relationships with various
personnel enterprise wide. Seeks out opportunities to communicate and
represent divisional programs. Identifies opportunities for streamlining
initiatives.

This is a Sr. level spot and they are looking for someone with solid
management skills. Ideally, they want someone who has managed business
analysts or who's managed development teams or perhaps combination teams
which include developers and analysts.

Manages a group of 5 or so Business Analysts working across applications.

Reports to the VP of IT – Position is open due to internal movement

Detailed Responsibilities:

· Manages and provides leadership to personnel. Oversees salary
administration and staffing plans; promotes training and development, and
assures compliance with all management policies and procedures.
· Develops clear behavior and capability levels for each tier of the
job family and provides frequent performance feedback to staff; seeks
development opportunities for staff as appropriate; encourages and promotes
training opportunities
· Establishes a set of systems analysis methodologies and best
practices to achieve consistent, high quality, repeatable results from the
processes of the team
· Contributes guidance in determining the optimal solutions for the
business challenges presented utilizing all available resources
· Assembles and maintains a high performing team through
recruitment, development and active management to ensure performance
standards are achieved.
· Fosters and maintains partnerships with key stakeholders
throughout the enterprise.
· Ensures that all stakeholders are educated on the allocation,
progress and challenges of the team.
· Understands the goals and vision of each major business unit and
structures the team accordingly.
· Assumes responsibility for the reputation and perception of the
team.
· Engages all levels of management across the firm through multiple
communication channels to recognize opportunities for the team to
contribute.
· Works with various corporate prioritization and steering
committees to achieve the optimal allocation of resources to the firm's key
initiatives.
· Actively pursues the opportunity to communicate the status and
direction of the team to the wider organization through presentations at
meetings, and other forums.
· Works with the technical teams within the division to understand
the capabilities and/or limitations that exist and ensures that
understanding is permeated throughout the team.
· Fosters a partnership with EPMO management to ensure ongoing
cohesion between the project managers and the team.
· Champions and/or supports the ongoing improvement of project
accounting by initiating and/or embracing efforts to improve data capture of
time allocations of the team.
· Actively participates in the development of the strategic roadmaps
for the organizational business units through frequent discussions with the
divisional leaders.
· Identifies themes and commonalities in initiatives across the
enterprise and works with the initiative leaders to gain synergies where
appropriate.
· Represents the team, the division, and the organization as a whole
in enterprise wide forums to ensure strong alignment and leverage any
advancements made across the organization.
· Actively participates on major corporate initiatives when
required - Leads by example.

Required Skills and Competencies:

· 5-10 years experience in systems analysis roles.
· 7-10 years experience managing high-level individual contributors.
· Knowledge of management principles and practices required.
· Knowledge of requirements analysis & system specification
methodologies and best practices required.
· Knowledge of the software development lifecycle required.
· Knowledge of financial services industry required – Back Office,
Mutual Funds, 529's, Retirement Plans, Proxy Services, etc.
· Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in management or
technical discipline preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

· Leadership and management skills. Required in order to
effectively lead, motivate and develop subordinates ensuring smooth
operation of department, including training, evaluation and communication of
expectations, requirements and results, and ensuring implementation and
consistent application of corporate policies, procedures and quality
standards.
· Communication skills. Ability to listen and communicate clearly
and effectively both verbally and in writing, in order to present, discuss
and advise clients, subordinates, senior management, and other departments.
Presentation skills are required in making formal presentations to clients
and senior management. Ability and willingness to proactively engage
business partners at all levels of the organization.
· Systems Analysis Skills. Deep familiarity with systems analysis
techniques and best practices. Understands the best methods to elicit
business requirements and create a set of process artifacts to facilitate
the delivery of a high quality solution. Understands the capabilities of
modern technology.
· Planning and Financial Management. Ability to establish financial
and operational plans and goals as well as manage resources and expenses
within budget limits. Ability to organize resources and establish roles and
accountabilities.
