Title: Systems Monitoring Technical Engineer

Duration: 3 months with possible extensions

Location: New York, NY

Overview:

Our client is seeking a Sr. Systems Monitoring Technical Engineer who will
provide technical expertise / support to the Infrastructure & Security
organization. The consultant will take the application monitoring
requirements received from the application development teams and implement
them as alerts in both SCOM and Netcool systems. Top Responsibilities
include implementing monitoring as a distributed application framework
including custom process monitoring, scripting, creating monitoring
dashboards for various levels of management and tuning and monitoring
threshold levels as to best reduce "noise."

Essential Responsibilities:

. Provide level 1/2/3 support for the monitoring infrastructure
design specifications

. Support a Microsoft SCOM 2007 and IBM Tivoli/Netcool environment

. Configure and maintain a MS SCOM 2007 and IBM Tivoli/Netcool
environment

. Add and maintain application diagrams, monitors, management packs
in MS SCOM 2007

. Work with application owners to determine application dependencies
and implement custom application monitors and alerts

. Make suggestions and improvements to the existing monitoring
infrastructure

. Ability to define and implement monitoring policy and procedures

. Write Powershell/VBscript/Perl scripts to implement recovery
tasks/automation

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

. Minimum ten (10) years related IT experience

. Must be an expert and have 5 or more years field experience in
creating custom application alerts in System Center Operations Manager
(SCOM) for a large scale enterprise (1000+ servers instances and 300+
applications)

. Must be an expert and have 7 years or more field experience in
creating basic and custom alerts in Netcool and MicroMuse technologies for a
large scale enterprise (1000+ server instances and 300+ applications)

. Must be an expert (7 or more years' experience) in designing and
creating SCOM and Tivioli dashboards supporting Service Level Management
(i.e. ability to report and automatically create tickets for instances below
acceptable end user and application service level performance).

. Knowledge and understanding of monitoring technologies: SCOM 2007,
CIM, IBM Netcool, IBM Tivoli Monitoring, Dell OpenManage, HP SIM

. Knowledge and understanding of server operating system
technologies: SUSE Linux, RedHAT, OEL, Centos, Microsoft Windows
Server Editions 2000 - 2008, UNIX OS (HPUX, AIX)

. Data network knowledge: WAN, LAN, IP, VPN, DNS and DHCP

. Undergraduate Degree or equivalent work experience in related
field

. Microsoft certifications for Systems Monitoring is a plus

. Excellent Teamwork, written & verbal communication skills

. Strong project management skills

Marty Latman is the chairman of the Bergen Chapter of Financial Executive
Network Group (FENG), which he created in March 2002 with 29 members.
