  Are you taking the right route to achieving cloud computing success?
Enterprise Cloud Computing is poised to grow at astounding rates this year. But, with so many cloud options available, it's difficult to determine what strategy, architecture, and specific solutions are best for your enterprise. Equinix and the Cloud Computing Consortium are partnering together to bring you an informative practical breakfast session on February 8, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City, NJ that will highlight and explore the changing roles, behaviors, and trends that can drive enterprise cloud success.
We begin the event with a special keynote address, Why and When the Cloud Makes Sense, delivered by Jessica Carroll, Managing Director, Information Technologies & Digital Media, United States Golf Association.
Join panelists from multi-million dollar corporations as they share how their organizations have leveraged the cloud for business advantage. We will answer questions such as: what are different cloud models and deployment choices and how do I select the right ones? What is the best way to work with cloud brokers? And what happens if I ignore cloud?
It's sure to be an exciting and informative event.  So, please join us February 8 in New Jersey to learn how you can benefit from the cloud.

AITP February 7 - LATEST IN NETWORK ATTACHED STORAGE - Daniel Kane

Posted by: "Brian Mecca" Brian.Mecca@yahoo.com   bd_mecca

Sat Feb 4, 2012 6:03 pm (PST)

Please RSVP to Doug Hobby - Doug_Hobby@hotmail.com if you plan on attending.  You do not need to be an AITP Member to attend this informative dinner briefing on the latest advance in Network Attached Storage and participate in the free raffle for an Apple TV

LATEST IN NETWORK ATTACHED STORAGE - Daniel Kane
============================
Mr. Kane will review the current state of network storage technology and then explain why and how his firm, Nimble Storage, developed a data storage system that provides more efficiency, lower costs and higher performance to the data storage industry. He will also show how Nimble's offerings are better than traditional systems when it comes to data protection, backup and disaster recovery.

NIMBLE STORAGE is a San Jose, CA based, privately held start-up that is focused on harnessing emerging technologies to provide data storage systems that are lower in cost, more efficient, better at protecting data and higher in performance. The Nimble approach is based on the concept of converged storage, backup, and disaster recovery. It replaces an enterprise's expensive high-RPM drives with a hybrid architecture that combines high-performance flash memory with low-cost, high-density drives. Data protection and recovery is facilitated via connection to a second off-site Nimble array.

THE SPEAKER
=========
Daniel Kane is an IT industry veteran with more than 20 years experience. He has worked in various roles for several traditional IT organizations, such as AT&T Bell Labs, as well as with firms in emerging technologies. He has lengthy experience with start ups that have focused on business continuity, data protection and data storage. He has played an active role in helping these organizations grow beyond the start up phase to become well known, publicly traded, multi-million dollar companies.

Dan is a graduate of St. John's University with a degree in Computer Science. He has also performed post graduate studies in information technology at NJIT.

PRESIDENT'S
COMMENTS
================
We
are going to give the buffet style dining option a try at this month's meeting.
One of the main reasons for this change is that it will allow our speaker to
give an uninterrupted presentation. It will also allow us to offer a quality
meeting at a slightly lower cost. I would be happy to hear your comments about
this arrangement post meeting.

The
device that we will be raffling off is known as an "Apple TV."
My understanding is that it is more like an adapter with storage
capability that allows you to connect your iPad or iPod Touch to a TV (HDMI) as
well as connect to such things as Netflix.

This
past month the Chapter has acquired two new members: Jim Danielson and Mark Gniazdowski.
Thank you for joining our Chapter and we look forward to meeting you.

Next
month we will be meeting at the headquarters of SHI in Somerset, NJ. I am
anxious to see what kind of turnout we will receive. The Chapter has done its
best to accomodate the geographic dispersion of its members by having meetings
in the Central NJ area. Please don't disappoint. If you live any where in that
area, please support us by attending.

FUTURE
MEETINGS
============
We
will return to meeting the second Tuesday of each month.

March
13-  The Cloud: From a Technology Standpoint - Somerset,
NJ
April
10  -  Update on Mobile Devices - Johnston's Steak House

Best regards,
