Your Job Search More Productive and Successful

companies of all sizes in many industries announce plans to reduce their
workforce, job-seekers tend to get a bit concerned about the length and
success of the job search they may face. It almost goes without saying that
job-hunting in a boom economy is quite different (and much easier) than
job-hunting in a slumping economy.

Using High Probability Selling In Your Sales Job Search

March 29, 2010

by Marci Reynolds

A few months ago I had the pleasure of interviewing Jacques Werth, the
President of High Probability Selling, for the Sales Operations Blog. (Check
out, "A Radically Honest Sales Approach Can Give You a 40% Lift In
<http://salesoperationsblog.com/2009/08/26/highprobabilityselling/>
Sales".) Jacques and I recently connected again, and I learned that he is
also somewhat of a job search guru, and recommends using high probability
selling techniques in a sales job search.

Although the topic veers from the usual content on The Sales Operations
Blog, I asked Jacques to submit a guest blog post on this topic. Here it is.

Be famous or foolish with your career: Publishing to get ahead

Posted Fri, 03/26/2010 - 07:40

Are you selling yourself short? Or perhaps long? When it comes to
publication it's easy to do both. Many fields require regular publication.
Scholars write papers, scientists publish findings and journalists.well you
get the idea. So if you've published in your field WE WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT.
A simple section of publications on your resume helps immensely. It's one
thing to say you have great written communication skills and quite another
to be able to prove it. Your publications list is that proof.

That said, this is your resume. It's a different thing entirely from a
designer's portfolio or a journalist's string-book. We want to get a taste
of what you can do, not your life story.
