One degree can make a difference

Good morning friends!

On my Career Wake Up Calls and in my book, I talk about the importance of searching for a job that you love. In the days of the great depression, some of the greatest businesses that still exist today were started because people decided to think outside the box and do something that they always dreamed about doing. Perhaps you always wanted to work in a particular industry or change
professions completely and need a little extra steam to make it happen.
If you are an author who is keeping your words in your head instead of writing them down, or if you have a business idea that you have been afraid to tell people about, perhaps this is your time to take action.

A good friend and fellow HR colleague of mine sent this video around to inspire the in-transition group she runs to go the extra mile. Please read the note that she sent her group below. Is there anything that you can do to push yourself one extra step with your search? Is there anything that career experts have advised you to try that you are skeptical of? Perhaps this video will inspire you like it inspired me.
Best wishes for a wonderful weekend!

Hi everyone,

I am attaching a link to a DVD called 212 Degrees. It is a great motivational video we used at my last company. It focuses on the possibilities of what can happen when you challenge yourself to take that extra step. Whether you are in search mode or not it is very motivational.

When I was searching for my current position sometimes a great quote or a video like this was exactly what I needed on a given day. It's only about 2 minutes long. Sometimes it's all you need to push yourself to apply to just one more job that day or make one more networking call before ending your day. And you never know, that extra call you make or additional application you fill out could be the one that leads you to the next opportunity. Just don't lose faith that the right opportunity will come your way.

(Just in case the link doesn't work go to walkthetalk.com and click on 212 degrees. You can watch the video that way too)

Best wishes,
Regina
